I know this blog is coming from Glasgow in Scotland and you might be wondering why I celebrate 4th July when it is Independence Day in the United States. But my second son was born on 4th July so I am reminded of the day every year. Happy Birthday son.
However I also wish everyone in the US a happy day and just in case you don’t know why it is celebrated in the US here are some historical facts.
In the years leading up to 1776 Great Britain kept trying to make the colonists follow more rules and pay higher taxes. They decided enough was enough and wanted independence. Thomas Jefferson wrote a draft of the document detailing all the best ideas of the committee that had been formed to bring about independence. This was signed and officially adopted on 4th July 1776.
If any of my followers in US feel that my facts are not exactly correct please let me know. Always happy to have constructive comments.
Anyway enough history for a Monday morning. Have a great day and a great week.
